VEDANTA KHUSHI - "I AM SORRY..."

It was raining heavily in Ahmedabad and returning from office I was very hungry. The nearby shop of hot samosas and pakodas tempted me to buy some. I parked my two-wheeler and went to the shop which is one of the most famous sweets shops of Ahmedabad and so was very crowded. While I was waiting for my order, a small poor little child came near me and started pulling my shirt. Her hands were dirty due to rains and my shirt was also getting spoiled. The child was persistently pulling my shirt and asking me for some thing to eat.

I stopped her once, twice but she continued with much force. I was already irritated with the crowd and also very hungry. I lost my temper and shouted at her to "Stop It" and pushed her away or I would have slapped her. My voice was so loud that she started screaming and crying. She went and stood at one corner. I could see she was still crying profusely.

I got my parcel in few minutes but meanwhile my eyes never went away from her. She was still sobbing and crying. She too kept an eye on me. I had calmed down a bit and realized that she could be empty stomach too. When hunger is making me so much irritated she is after all a small child. `Hunger is Hunger', it does not identify people.

I could not carry the parcel to my vehicle. I went to her and said "I AM SORRY" . She did not stop crying. I again said "I AM SORRY" and took out one samosa and few pakodas from the packet. She was too scared to take it from me. I wiped her tears and made her eat.

This was the first time I was seeing a child who was crying, smiling and also eating. I felt bad for my behaviour. I know I would not repeat. Indeed, "I WAS SORRY".

  2. The most satisfying way to have peace is by confession. We all do mistakes but very few confess in public. Madam Tanushree you an example for others to follow. You have actually made us polite towards these children.

  3. This is in response to a message received from 'unknown' asking about what we doing. I would request you to follow other posts also where we keep updating all members about what is being done at Vedanta level to spread "Khushi". We recently uploaded a picture that mentioned that 9000 children would now go to formal school. These children are from Anganwadi which have been adopted by Vedanta. Vedanta is already working towards providing health, nutrition and education to thousands of these children and we are further scaling up our projects in this direction. Also we would be keen to know what you have done to spread 'Khushi' so that we can share the same on facebook. Regards.

  6. The above fact instruct us how to love the deprived childs. We the people of society, should dignify our lives by conferring three necessities i.e. foods, house for dwelling and clothes to the bereaved Childs of our society. This type of activities implies blessings from the god to us.

I agree with you and it is really difficult to identify who is a beggar and who is not. If you would have participated in Debates that we do we did raise this point. On one hand these children need to be aligned with the other children in terms of education, health and nutrition and on other hand we need to also ensure that we do not misbehave with them. The final goal is to bring them in main stream. There are many things needed to be done together. We are all working. Vedanta is doing its bit by bringing children together in rural India.

  9. A very nice lesson to all

When you face the situation like this just think, you are in your current position due to grace of the Supreme Power & God want you to help him / her ( little poor guy ), remember, situation may change at any time.

Help all , serve all, forget the help you provide to others, it will remove Ego from you & make your life simple & you will live in peace ...

Everyone need to learn from this story. We are blessed for food and shelters. But, children are like GOD and it is not their mistake to born as poor. Vedanta is doing lot of CSR activities to help poor. We, employees of Vedanta to give join hands to this great drive and proud to be part of this campaign...... Rathakrishnan
